~High Sweden Bridge~

21st September 2010

Arrival day of our three night stay in Ambleside. Dry, fine weather greets us and we decide upon a short walk from the town up to High Sweden Bridge....

Ambleside

White Platts, Ambleside

We are staying at Norwood House, guest house, Ambleside. They have valuable parking spaces close to "Wood n Things" near White Platts and we started the walk from the parking space.

Have a look at their website, if you like. I'll be able to say more about the stay at the end of the week.

People flock here to take photographs, it's quite annoying.

The Way Back to Ambleside

Very few photo opportunities on the way back, greying skies and Low Sweden Bridge is more or less un-photographable, if that's a word.

Walkers: Karen and Me

Time taken: 2hr 15 mins over a distance of approx. 4 miles.

Route: Ambleside, High Sweden Lane, High Sweden Bridge, up the other side, down to Low Sweden Bridge and Ambleside.

Weather and conditions: Dry, bright and cloudier towards the end of the walk.

Greetings Count: Popular route, lots of pleasantries extended.

Richard's Refreshment Review: On the way into the Lakes, we paid Low Sizergh Barn a visit. Outstanding farm shop and cafe, well worth a visit - only accessible on the southbound A591, so if heading north, come off at the A591/A590 interchange and turn left (for Barrow) and follow the brown signs, turning right promptly.
